About

I’m an Australian Artist currently living in Singapore. With a background in Graphic Design, a lifetime of art practice, and so much moving around, I unexpectedly came across a medium that fully resonated with me. Whilst undertaking Museum & Art Gallery Studies and waiting for an interview at the de Young Museum in SF, I literally looked up to see what can only be described as a series of fascinating complex sculptural artworks. I was immediately intrigued and set on a path of exploration and experimentation. How could a fairly unremarkable medium such as wire be turned into something so beautiful? I had discovered the amazing art of Ruth Asawa.

It was then during Melbournes 2020 harsh Covid lockdowns that I truly began to explore the technique of using wire as a medium and of creating my own pieces. With an abundance of time on my hands, and confined to the home, I became drawn to the cathartic repetition of loop making and weaving to cope with what was, for so many of us, a distressing and unnatural time in our lives. These hand woven, labour intensive sculptures started to take shape.

While painting, drawing and contemporary mixed media have always informed earlier work, this current art practice of hand weaving and manipulating copper wire into organic sculptural forms is truly my passion. I continue to explore the medium and technique that Ruth pioneered when she was alive, striving to develop aesthetically interesting pieces that bring joy to the viewer.
